Mumbai's Dadar Station Gets Brand New Restaurant On Wheels

Unlike the bustling crowds of Dadar station or cramped coaches, Dadar’s shining new ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ is welcoming customers at Dadar station. Following the opening of a similar concept at Andheri station, the new project is a spacious interior designed to accommodate 72 people. Undertaken by the Mumbai division of the Central Railways, the establishment features Chinese food, desserts like cheesecake, pastires, gulab jamun and brownies on the menu.

Exhibiting a commitment to innovative solutions as a way to encourage more people to experience a taste of fine-dining at an affordable price. With revamped interiors of a leased railway coach, the comfortable décor is also one of the largest projects undertaken by the Central Railways in Mumbai. With similar concepts executed in other locations such as Akola, Pune, Amravati and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, the division plans on undertaking more such ventures.

Similar concepts have been executed across the country at Prayagraj station which boasts of a similar restaurant, as well as Delhi - where a metro coach was repurposed into becoming a dining space. Passengers who might be taking a train from Guwahati railway station were also in for a delightful surprise when a coach restaurant served up snacks and beverages to famished stop-overs. Late last year, Bengaluru's KSR railway station launched a coach restaurant for travellers to grab a quick bite, preceded by a similar 42-seater restaurant at the Rayagada station in Odisha.
