With all kinds of fun ideas taking centre stage on Mother’s Day, the food delivery app Zomato decided to provide its users with another fun service to make their parent feel even better. As a way of enhancing the experience for its users as well as providing the option to do something special and fun, they have introduced a brand-new feature of customising photo cakes that will be delivered within a span of 30 minutes. The feature, which the company’s CEO, Deepinder Goyal announced on Thursday, is all set to remain on the app even after Mother’s Day.
The new service – which allows customers to upload an image that they would like on the cake – also allows the user to select from the list of bakeries/restaurants from where they would want to receive the cake. Further, once the flavour and weight has been selected, customers can also get a preview of what their cake is going to look like when done before they place the order. Following the whopping 150 cake orders per minute that the app experienced in the previous year on the occasion, the feature has been made live in Delhi NCR and other selected cities.

Trying the new feature to demonstrate it himself, Goyal shared that he ordered a customised photo cake for one of the company’s employees who had been associated with the brand for 10 years. The idea of the photo cakes feature was launched with the idea of making occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and milestones feel special, with a personalised touch. Within a list of recently launched services, Zomato also introduced a fleet of delivery partners driving electric vehicles for an eco-friendly delivery experience.
