Monsoon has arrived in India in full swing, and with it the time to enjoy the pitter-patter of heavy rainfall along with a view of lush green nature. Though we love the subtle nip in the air which brings a huge respite from the simmering summers, there’s no denying the fact that monsoons are also the time we experience a lot many infections and seasonal diseases. No wonder experts have specific suggestions for the season in order to maintain good health. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recently shared a handful of dietary and hygiene practices that one must follow to enjoy the monsoon season while keeping diseases at bay.
Taking to their official Twitter handle, FSSAI stressed upon ways and tips to store, clean and foods to eat, besides basic kitchen and personal hygiene tips to follow.
Three Monsoon Food Tips By FSSAI:
1. Eat Safe Food
FSSAI advised that you always wash and clean fruits and vegetables thoroughly before cooking. Cooking each dish thoroughly and to avoid eating cold food were also advised, Always reheat properly before consumption, the tweet mentioned. Refrigerating all leftover cooked and perishable food, preferable under five degree C is also a must.
2. Keep Kitchen Clean
In the post-Covid world, keeping our spaces, especially kitchen, has become even more important. Not just basic cleaning but sanitizing has become prime. That’s exactly what FSSAI echoed and suggested before cooking. From washing and sanitize the surface, as well as utensils and equipment to kitchen floor and the fridge inside out, each of it is suggested by FSSAI.
3. Maintain Personal Hygiene
And the main point is to keep good personal hygiene. While it is important to keep cleanliness of our kitchen space, pre, post and while cooking, it is of primary to keep ourselves clean. From washing our hands at regular interval with soap, to keep our nails short and clean and hair properly tied, each of these points contribute to overall good health. It helps us prevent from different types of germs and bacteria.
