In what comes as a surprise to most fans of the Rolling Stones band, is frontman Mick Jagger’s quiet visit to Kolkata. The rock legend, who is spending time in the country with his girlfriend and youngest son, was first spotted attending a World Cup final match between England and Pakistan at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. This was followed by a sight-seeing journey of the city, that he undertook on the eve of Kali Puja, mesmerised by the colourful decorations and festive atmosphere.
Wishing his Indian fans a happy Diwali with a montage of photographs on his social media, word has it that he enjoyed a traditional Bengali lunch during the match. This was followed by a family visit to one of Kolkata’s most iconic heritage restaurants – Trincas on Park Street. The historic eatery that has been around for over six decades is an old-school, high-end restaurant known for its Indian, Continental and Chinese fare – is also a popular spot for patrons to enjoy live musical performances.
