Le Petit Chef: Immersive Dining With The World's Smallest Cook

As people moved outdoors to indulge in good food and greater experiences, joining hands with technology emerged the concept of Le Petit Chef. The word “Le Petit” literally translates to “small.”

After successfully executing the immersive dining concept in Mumbai, Delhi, and Goa, Le Petit Chef has now made its way to Chandigarh at Hyatt Centric. Who Is Le Petit Chef?

Unlike any other culinary maestro, Le Petit Chef is a 6-cm tall animated character which takes you on a gastronomic journey across the world through 3D projection mapping. Using cutting-edge technology, Skullmapping, a Belgian-based company, developed the animated chef in April 2015 in Marseille, France. Thanks to 3D projection mapping, Le Petit Chef has been transforming dining tables into a stage where he prepares and presents an elaborate six-course meal.

Le Petit Chef, Following The Footsteps Of Marco Polo

Even though there are many themes and chapters followed by the Le Petit Chef, the one you can find in India is – Marco Polo. It is based on the concept and journey of Marco Polo, the famous Venetian merchant, explorer and writer who travelled through Asia along the Silk Road between 1271 and 1295. Following his footsteps, Le Petit Chef takes the diners for the day through the same route. 

While the actual food is prepared in the kitchen, you will not feel left hanging waiting for your order, as this chef will keep you entertained. “This concept is not just fine dining; it is more about fun dining. The one-of-a-kind communal dining concept offers you much more than food. You get a complete theatrical experience which has cinematic bits, fun elements, and even interactive activities,” says Navneet, the restaurant manager at Hyatt Centric, Chandigarh.

Coming to their classic Marco Polo Luxe Menu, here’s all you need to know about food prepared by the tiny chef as you travel across the globe.

France - The Journey Begins

The show starts in France, where Le Petit Chef was born. So, for an aromatic starter, non-vegetarians can expect silken chicken velouté made with herbs and aged cream. It is served with artisanal pepper lavash, which makes the bowl utterly irresistible. As for vegetarians, there’s a mushroom velouté with truffle ricotta cheese dumplings. It is served with a crispy side of rosemary-infused black pepper lavash.

Arabia - Exploring the Levant

The next stop is Arabia. From this course, you can choose from grilled chicken and vegetable skewers. They are served with Arabia’s popular smoked beetroot hummus with pita bread. The dish comes with a side of  Fattouh salad, which includes cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, olives, pomegranate seeds, and more.

India - Royals Of India

Le Petit Chef then travels across the sand and reaches India. He explores the rich spices of India and prepares lamb chops and cottage cheese roulade. Based on your preference, the gravy is served with saffron rice and cheese naan.

Himalayas - Over the Mountain Tops

While the smallest chef travels to the peaks, a wintery atmosphere is created in the dining room as well. While enjoying orange granitas, litchi sphere and Himalayan salt, you can expect your host to take you on a meditative spree with the calm echoes of the mountains.

China - The Land Of the Dragon

Next, in China, which has fresh produce and sauces, vegetarians are served steamed tofu paired with tender bamboo shoots in a refined chilli-ginger-scallion sauce, served alongside fragrant jasmine rice. For non-vegetarians, Le Petit Chef prepares prawns with tender pok choy paired with jasmine rice.

France - Back Home

After travelling the world, Le Petit Chef returns home and offers you tempting dessert options. You can relish a vanilla-infused custard base topped with caramelised sugar or a creamy panna cotta topped with mango jelly and chocolate.
