Having guests over for Christmas can be a stressful affair. For most, it’s a holiday that’s centred around food, drink and merriment. So when it comes time to serving up lunch or dinner, the pressure’s on to lay out a lavish spread. Now while there are plenty of options in the food space that you can explore, the drinks side is a bit more complicated. Most cocktails require a number of specialised ingredients or a certain skill level to create. But this home-style Bailey’s substitute can be made quickly and easily in your own kitchen.
Traditionally, Bailey’s is made with the freshest cow’s milk straight from the Irish dairy farms along with a secret formula of chocolate, coffee and vanilla flavours and then blended with fine Irish whisky. So given all that, this may not measure up to the OG drink, but it’s a pretty close substitute, and definitely a lot less expensive!
With only a few ingredients you can create a creamy, sweet drink to serve your guests after dinner, and better yet, it can be bottled and stored for months so the joy of Christmas doesn’t need to end.
