How To Store Unopened Green Coconuts?

However, on the other hand, if you require to store it for a longer period than mentioned above, it is advisable to refrigerate the unopened coconut. The green coconut, being an unripe one, can be made to last for only 2-3 weeks when preserved in the refrigerator. The cool temperature helps maintain the coconut water and tender meat inside the shells. It is advisable to always investigate the coconut before use; it should have a heavy feel, and you should be hearing the voice of the water. In case you require it to be stored for a relatively longer period, you can freeze the coconut water. Pour it into ice cube trays or in any other freezable cups and place it in the freezer. Frozen coconut water can be kept in the freezer for up to 6 months. It is therefore important to always check on any off smells or flavours, as coconut water, while in its frozen state, might have developed some changed tastes.

Coconut milk is extracted from coconut meat and then filtered to remove solids and fibres. After opening a can of coconut milk or making it fresh, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will remain fresh for 4-5 days.
