Kashmir has also primarily been known for the perfect cup of tea with traditional flavours, which also gained prominence amongst tourists or travellers. Noon Chai or Sheer Chai 

Kashmiris teas are one of their traditional beverages. Noon chai is an everyday morning or evening tea that Kashmiri people take with “bakarkhani”. The word “noon” in the Kashmiri language means “salt”, that’s why this tea salt is essential for its unique flavour. This tea is pink in colour made with tea gunpowder (green tea leaves rolled up into small balls), sea salt, milk, baking soda, and minimum water. 

Kahwa 

Kahwa is an exotic local mix of Kashmiri spices, nuts, cloves, cherries, dried apricots, dates, and saffron. Also, it is prepared with different combinations and distinct flavours and aromas. Kahwa is a special drink that is served during festivals, marriages, or gatherings. This is a warm tea that keeps your body warm and protected from the harsh cold weather. 

Kashmiri Lassi 

In Kashmir, no afternoon meal is complete without having a tall glass of Kashmiri buttermilk. This is prepared with mint leaves, yoghurt, cumin powder, and some local spices. Typically it is a summer drink, but in winter Kashmiris add hot water and yoghurt to it.
