Coffee consumption has doubled in the past decade and it’s all thanks to the growing love for Espresso style coffee that’s dominating the market with the opening of international coffee chains like Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Ritazza and Pret a Manager across the country. But fancy coffee typically means big bucks. An average cup of Americano is marked up twice or thrice its original value. So, let’s break this cycle and make our favourite coffee at home.
Americano
An Americano is a shot of espresso with a cup of water.
To make this at home, you don’t need an expensive machine. Just add two teaspoons of instant coffee powder in a 1/4 cup of water and pour some boiling water to fill the mug.

Café Latte
A shot of espresso, a cup of steamed milk and a thin layer of foams make the perfect cup of latte. If you don't have a milk steamer at home, you must think of improvising. In a small pot, boil two cups of milk while whisking constantly. The whisking introduces air and helps build foam. In a mug, add your espresso and slowly pour a cup of boiled milk and top the drink with a little bit of foam.

Mocha
Mocha is a drink we are massively overpaying for. It’s similar to a latte with the addition of melted chocolate.
Melt two squares of chocolate and add to your espresso before pouring in the boiled foam milk. Make it extra decadent with a sprinkle of cocoa powder.

Caramel Macchiato
Unlike the name suggests, this drink is actually vanilla-based instead of caramel. The caramel part is just the drizzle on top of the foam.
Its base is similar to the latte, just add half a teaspoon of vanilla to the milk while whisking. Once you pour the espresso and vanilla milk in a mug, top with a layer of foam and drizzle on some caramel sauce. And that’s it.
