How Did Fruit Wine Come Into Existence?

Wine seems to be synonymous with the word ‘sophisticated’. My first encounter with this most elegant alcoholic drink happened only 3 years ago. My urge to at least know how wine tastes ended in 2018 when I was in Poonch at my sister’s place. She knew my desires well and hence threw a small gathering that included only close family members and just 1 friend. While others were busy having some weird conversations, we both waited impatiently to open that 1 last bottle of wine kept in the house till that fun-filled night. She had ordered a few scrumptious veg and non-veg items along with chips to make the party-like feel go to another level. However, it didn’t turn out that way for me after I had my first ever sip of this stunning-looking beverage. Yes, I was extremely disappointed while on the other hand, my sister and her friend went on to leave the bottle half empty. Yes, everyone has their own share of likes and dislikes. Unlike me, a wine connoisseur or an oenologist probably would tell you exactly what magic wine holds and what are the varieties of this alcoholic drink.

As far as my research goes, wine’s origin is not exactly known. Some believe that it has come from France, others say, wine has its origin in China. However, most experts agree that wine was first invented in Persia. A popular story surrounding wine’s origin states that once upon a time, a Persian queen locked herself inside a room packed with rotten grapes to show anger to her husband, the king. After some time, she fainted inside the room. When the king asked his men to go and search for his queen, they found her lying on the floor. When a Hakim/doctor was called to the darbar, he appeared and checked her. He informed the king that his raani has alcohol in her system because of which she passed out. That’s when people got to know that rotten grapes can be used to make alcohol.
