Homemade Liquid Cat Food Recipes Your Feline Will Love

Cats are notorious for not drinking enough water. Be it the sultry Indian summer or the cooler months, most cat parents pull their hair out trying to make sure their feline pals stay hydrated. Usually, cats won't drink much from a water bottle or portable bowl, resulting in dehydration and other health issues due to this behavior. One of the best ways you can enable your cat to take in more moisture in their body is through their diet. Pureed and lickable treats are two forms in which liquid cat foods can come, which provide great nutrition while keeping them hydrated.

Making this liquid cat food at home is very easy, inexpensive, and customizable. You can prepare delicious liquid meals with simple ingredients that are easily available at every Indian house, which will surely make your feline friend go wow. Here are seven easy-to-make liquid foods that will help keep your furry friend happy and hydrated.

Chicken Broth

Homemade chicken broth is an easy, healthy liquid diet for your cat. Simply boil some pieces of chicken, preferably bone-in for extra flavour, in water; however, do not put any seasoning into the water: no salt, no spices, no oil. When your chicken is tender, carefully pour out the liquid and then set it to cool. Chicken broth is essentially a source of protein, but has an extra added advantage of hydrating your cat. Very good especially for cats recuperating from sickness since it's light on the stomach.

Fish Soup

Another popular food option given to cats is fish soup. You can make a great broth using fish commonly available in most Indian homes, like rohu or catla, which your cat will love. Boil the fish in water and ensure that no bones or sharp fins are in the final product. Strain the liquid and add a little mashed fish for a thicker consistency. Fish provides essential omega-3 fatty acids great for your cat's coat and general health.

Yoghurt and Water Blend

Yoghurt and water blend is another excellent liquid treat if your cat has no problem with dairy. However, be sure to seek out plain, unsweetened yoghurt, as flavoured or sweetened may lead to stomach discomfort with your cat. Mix equal quantities of yoghurt with water until you have a smooth, drinkable liquid. Yoghurt is rich in probiotics, which help digestion, and hence, it is the best option for sensitive tummies.

Pumpkin Soup

Pumpkin is thought to be light on the cat's tummy and is employed a lot when the cat experiences constipation. You can make a basic pumpkin soup by boiling or steaming pieces of pumpkin until they are soft. Blend them in water into a smooth puree, and your cat will have a delicious, fibre-rich liquid meal. It is especially very good for older cats who may have a problem with digestion.

Lentil Soup

Lentils are a good source of protein and fibre. These therefore are pretty healthy for the cat. As a liquid diet, it is possible to give them light unsalted lentil soup or dal. It is permissible to boil split lentils with water until they become soft, then blend them into liquid form. While doing so, avoid adding any spices or seasonings because cats can become sensitive to those easily. Lentil soup indeed can provide energy to cats, especially to the active ones.

Rice Water

It is the starchy water that comes from boiling rice. Rice water can be used as a liquid, soothing diet for your cat. And if your cat has an upset stomach, this will be very helpful. It is easy for your cat to digest rice water since it's rather bland, although you can flavour and tempt your pet with a small amount of boiled and shredded chicken or fish.

Bone Broth with Turmeric

That is very good for hydration and contains all the minerals for the body that help the joints and bones. Bone broth is made by boiling chicken or lamb bones in water for many hours. Give it an Indian touch by sprinkling a teeny-tiny pinch of turmeric, as this contains anti-inflammatories. Just remember, only a very, very small amount, because your cat might find too much turmeric very overwhelming.
