Gulkand is believed to originate from Indo-Persia and is used in the Unani system of medicine as a cooling tonic. Traditionally, gulkand has been prepared with Damask roses, other common types of roses used are China rose, French rose, and Cabbage rose.
This petal jam has a plethora of benefits and helps with a range of issues including acidity, headache, lethargy and tiredness, constipation and bloating, spotting during periods, PCOS, acne marks, itchy scalp, sugar cravings, and irregular sleep. It is incredibly easy to make at home as well.
You’ll Need
100g of Rose petals
4 tbsp of white sugar
2 tsp of Fennel seeds
1 tsp of cardamom
1 tbsp of Honey
Instructions
Wash the rose petals. Dry them properly.
Spread a layer of sugar in a jar. Top it up with a layer of the rose petals. Repeat the above step.
Add some fennel seeds and cardamom. Drizzle honey to make sure it sticks. It also helps with the flavour and sweetness.
Repeat till all the petals are over.
Close the jar with a lid and keep it in the sunlight for 7 – 10 days
Mix the gulkand every other day using a clean spoon.
Store in an airtight container and refrigerate it.
You can store it for a year or more.
How To Use It
Mix the Gulkand with milk at night for restful sleep.
Replace your detox water, gulkand in water, and sip through the day to beat acidity and bloating.
A spoon of this stuff in the morning or after meals to improve digestion and reduce cravings.
And obviously, you can enjoy a paan leaf.
