Interesting Thandai Recipes To Savour The Holi

The colorful celebration of Holi is just near as we enjoy the splendour of the spring season. This event heralds the end of the gloomy winters and the start of the beautiful, brilliant summers. People celebrate this day every year by dousing each other in water and gulaal (colours). Food and festivities go hand in hand, and the Holi celebration is no exception. While gujiya and chaat are the most popular foods consumed, thandai is nearly synonymous with Holi. For the majority of people, this day would not be complete without a cooling and revitalising thandai. 

Serving thandai to guests who are coming over to celebrate Holi is essential. A tons of nuts and spices are infused into milk to create this cool beverage. Although you may create other types of thandai, we present some unusual variety that your family and friends would enjoy the best if you love experimenting with flavours.  

Thandai Mojito 

1.5 glass of milk 

a bunch of mint leaves 

half cup soaked pistachios  

2 crushed cardamoms  

Chopped pistachios and mint (for garnish) 

2-3 tsp of powdered sugar (or any other sweetener) 

Method: Combine each ingredient in the blender. This beverage is a contemporary spin on the classic Thandai and has mint to add freshness. Add garnish and serve it chilled in a large wine glass. 

Berry Thandai 

1.5 glass of milk 

1.5 cups of strawberries 

half cup of soaked nuts (of your choice) 

vanilla essence 

a pinch of a spice of your choice (cinnamon or cardamom) 

sweetener of your choice (sugar/honey) 

Diced strawberries for garnish 

Method: Mix everything together for a berry burst with nuts. Wonderful for kids who can't eat the conventional, hot Thandai. Give it to them in bottles so that kids can play with colours while drinking and sharing with friends. 

Kesar, Roast Almond & Honey Thandai 

1.5 glass of milk 

A large pinch of kesar soaked in warm water 

1 cup of soaked roast almonds 

2 crushed cardamoms (Elaichi) 

2 crushed peppercorns 

2-3 teaspoons of honey 

Dried rose petals and chopped nuts (for garnish) 

Method: Due to the roast almonds, this Kesari Thandai has a delightful nuttiness to it. The kesar and rose give the beverage vibrancy and a refreshing texture. Excellent for serving to visitors during a Holi party in attractive glasses!
