There is no doubt that Hina Khan is a travel enthusiast and a foodie. She recently took to Instagram stories to share that she indulged in Maharashtrian-style chicken curry that was delicious.

She is currently staying in the Canary Islands, Lonavala, which is among Maharashtra’s most renowned resorts offering modern facilities amid pristine natural beauty. The actor said that the food at the resort is ‘outstanding’.

Boasting a red hue and succulent chicken pieces, the curry looked no short of a gastronomic ride through the flavours of Maharashtra. This heart curry was Hina Khan’s muse as she was away from her home.

Maharashtrian Chicken Curry

Maharashtrian chicken curry or chicken rassa is a traditional dish that imbibes the complex flavours and notes of locally grown spices in the state. Its preparation method showcases how many dishes from Maharashtrian cuisine are made using a blend of fresh coconut, aromatic spices, and red hot chillies.

The base of the curry is prepared using garlic, onion, coconut, and ginger. Once the ingredients are roasted in oil and the earthy scent fills the entire kitchen, Goda masala, a Maharashtrian authentic spice blend, is added to infuse it with complex flavours.

Chicken pieces are added to this delicious curry and left to simmer for some time so that they absorb the spices and become tender and succulent. Tamarind or lemon juice is added on top to balance the spiciness in the curry and served with naan or rice.

From different regions of Maharashtra, you can savour different variants of chicken curry, each with a distinct base and a set of spices. If you are a chicken lover, the regional delights can leave your taste buds tantalised.
