What Is Gongura Kodi Pulao?

The common pulao is given an intriguing twist by gongura kodi pulao. This is a simple Indian recipe that calls for gongura (sorrel) leaves as the main ingredient, along with rice, chicken, and a variety of spices. These leaves are renowned for giving food a distinct tangy and sour flavour.

In South Indian homes, they're pretty widely used. In addition to being flavorful, gonguri kodi pulao has a pleasant aroma. When serving this dish at a dinner party, guests will be captivated by it right away. To really enjoy the flavour of this pulao, serve it with raita, salan, or chutney.

How To Prepare Gongura Pulao?

First, give the rice a good rinse and let it soak in water for about half an hour. Add the coriander, mustard, and cumin seeds to a pan of heated oil. When the seeds start spluttering add the onions and sauté till they turn golden brown.

Mince the ginger and garlic and add to the pan. Stir for a while and add the chicken and cook for a few minutes. When the cooking is done, mix the gongura leaves, salt, cumin powder, coriander powder, and green chilies.

Mix the chicken and the gongura leaves thoroughly. After that, add the rinsed and soaked rice and thoroughly stir to evenly distribute the masalas. Add the water and boil it. Once the rice is cooked and the water has been absorbed, lower the heat, cover the pan, and simmer.

Using a fork, fluff the rice and serve hot! The gongura kodi pulao is prepared for consumption.

Conclusion

Gongura kodi pulao is a wonderful representation of how people can elevate a basic Indian dish. The simple pulao turns more flavourful and healthy just by adding gongura kodi.
