Chocolate fondue is a leisurely way to end any meal. And it’s any chocolate lover's dream. It’s an easy treat that brings the whole family together and it’s definitely approved by kids too. The recipe is so simple and requires only five ingredients, but the end product is absolutely decadent. You can also totally customise your chocolate fondue, like some peppermint essence for peppermint chocolate fondue, or cinnamon and cayenne for a Mexican kick, or Amaretto or Bailey's Irish cream for a more grown-up version.

To make chocolate fondue you will need:

  • 180g of dark chocolate

  • 1/2 cup of cream

  • 1/4 cup of milk

  • 3 tbsp of butter

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • Pinch of salt

  • 2 tbsp of rum or bourbon

  • Instructions

    • In a double boiler, place the chocolate and let it melt gently. Don’t let it come in contact with water, water is the enemy of chocolate.

  • Once melted, add the cream and butter and whisk constantly to avoid strikes.

  • Then pour the milk and let the mix in.

  • Stir in the vanilla essence and liquor.

  • Pour in a fondue pot or large ramen with a tea light below it. The recipe makes a cup and a half.

  • Dipping Essentials

Chocolate fondue is only as good as its dipping goodies. If you feel healthy, strawberries make a perfect accompaniment for chocolate fondue. You can also use other fruits like kiwis, grapes and berries. Marshmallows dipped in chocolate fondue is a chewy flavourful journey on their own.

Cookies and cakes smothered in chocolate liquid is a warm delight. Wafers, too, pair wonderfully with chocolate to make a crunchy chocolatey dessert.

If you have them on stand use fondue skewers, if you don’t toothpicks will do the job in a pinch.
