Entrepreneur Praises In-Flight Navratri Meal; Internet Agrees

Who doesn’t love a touch of desi food when they’re up in the air? Entrepreneur and author Madhuri Jain Grover was served a Navratri Thali as her in-flight meal and needless to say, Grover was very impressed. She took to X to share her elation at the option of savouring vegetarian-friendly foods even while one is travelling.

She shared a picture of a plate of sabudana cutlets, chopped fresh fruits, spiced potatoes and a bowl of plain yoghurt. “Highly impressed and surprised with the flight attendant of @airindia for serving Navaratri Thali as meal, on learning that I was fasting. Have travelled around the world, but no other airline has such nuanced food options. All others offer you is fruits/tea/coffee. Thank you @airindia for taking care! #airindia #airlines #Navratri2024 #gratitude #spirituality,” she wrote on X.

Her followers weighed in on it too and praised the airline for offering fast-friendly foods during the festive time. “This is amazing . Is this for everyone ; economy and Business class . ( since it is related to religion ; options can vary )” a follower wrote. “That’s apretty filling meal!” wrote another. This is not the first time Air India has offered Navratri thalis as part of its in-flight meals; the airline has been serving fast-friendly foods for a few years, during this nine-day Hindu fasting season, including dry-fruit-based puddings, potato dishes, pakoras, and plain yoghurt.

Airlines and domestic airports across India are making efforts to include local festive dishes and regional foods, especially during festivals. Recently, an image of Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport's Terminal 2 went viral during Holi, after an X user took shared a glimpse of the lounge which had an impressive selection of desserts, from laddoo and peda to Mysore pak and jalebi with rabdi.
