For many people, baking a cake is a rewarding endeavour that requires both patience and a commitment to following the recipe. While it can be relatively straightforward, it is also a process that demands care and attention. Regardless, a cake is an essential part of many special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, and more, and has the ability to make everything better. With just one slice, a cake can elevate your mood, providing a quick pick-me-up on a rough day or a delectable treat to satisfy a sweet craving. It also makes for a great dessert that we can gobble up at any time of the day. And a conversation about cakes is never complete without the classic vanilla cake, a quintessential cake that is surprisingly easy to bake as well. With its pillowy soft crumb and rich and creamy vanilla flavour, it is undoubtedly one of the simplest yet most popular cakes out there. If you are planning to bake one at home, we’ve got a simple recipe right here.
While most vanilla cake recipes have eggs as a primary ingredient for the sponge, this one is an eggless cake as well, as it uses a little bit of milk and vinegar, which give the cake a fluffy effect. To make the batter thick and rich, it is important to add the milk in two portions in order to give the batter a thick and rich consistency. This eggless cake can be baked and prepared in less than an hour and can be your go-to recipe for a quick dessert.
The only flavouring this recipe uses is vanilla and the cake can be topped with anything from chocolate sauce to to colourful sprinkles. While the batter is simple too, you can play around with it and innovate by adding some chopped nuts or candy to make it more exciting. Here’s the full recipe:
