Diwali Special: Mixologists Share Easy Cocktail Recipes

Diwali parties should be fun and memorable. Celebrating the festival is all about dressing in traditional wear, lighting up the house, prepping Diwali snacks and sweets, and, most importantly, getting creative with alcohol. If you are hosting a party for Diwali, don’t just settle on vodka and cranberry juice in a glass; this is your sign to add an extra and easy sparkle to the evening.

To honour the festival’s essence and bring warmth, happiness, and togetherness to your celebrations, Slurrp asked mixologists to share their favourite cocktail recipes for Diwali. Why don’t you try these festive recipes and raise a glass to new beginnings, shared laughter, and cherished memories, making this Diwali one to remember?

Diwali Delight By Jiitin Merani, Co-Founder Of The Glenwalk

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml whisky
  • 20 ml saffron-infused honey water
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • 2 dash cardamom bitters
  • Top up with Ginger ale

Instructions:

  1. Fill the shaker with ice.
  2. Add lemon juice, saffron-infused honey water, a dash of cardamom bitters, and whisky.
  3. Shake well until chilled.
  4. Strain Into old-fashioned glass with fresh ice.
  5. Top up with Ginger ale.
  6. Gently Garnish with edible gold leaf and stir the drink.

Pataaka Punch By Kashyap Salla, Zyto

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml Zyto Luxe 5x
  • 60 ml Saffron and Gondhoraj cordial
  • 60 ml warm water
  • 200 ml coconut water
  • 100 gms jaggery
  • 50 gms raw sugar
  • 5 gms Gondhoraj lime peels
  • 25 ml Gondhoraj lime juice
  • 5 gms citric acid.
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Take 60ml warm water, put a pinch of saffron in it, and set aside for half an hour.
  2. Mix the spirit with Saffron and Gondhoraj.
  3. Mix them with coconut water, jaggery, lime peels, lime juice, citric acid, and salt.
  4. Run all the above through a blender and strain through a cheesecloth. The cordial is ready.
  5. Top up with soda. 
  6. Garnish with a chakli and serve.

Nostalgic Berry By Mixologist Pramod Desai, Baliboo

Ingredients:

  • 45 ml kalakhatta syrup
  • 15 ml lime juice 
  • 15 ml soda

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients and shake with ice.
  2. Rim the glass with chaat masala and pour the cocktail.
  3.  Garnish with sliced burnt malta orange.

Diwali Sparkler By Sr. Bartender Kuber Bhatt, The Bluebop Cafe

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml vodka
  • 30 ml rose syrup
  • 30 ml fresh citrus juice (lemon/orange)
  • 15 ml homemade ginger liqueur
  • Splash of Sparkling rose wine

Instructions:

  1. Take a shaker and mix vodka, rose syrup, citrus juice, ginger liqueur, and rose wine.
  2. Strain and add ice cubes.
  3. Garnish with rose petals & lemon wheel.
