Let us get this straight. Fruits or rather a mix of fruits could do wonders for your health, hence whenever you find an opportunity to grab an apple, kiwi, banana, guava or any other fruit, make sure you do not procrastinate any further. Most fruits are laden with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial properties that help charge up our immunity and overall health. They are also a tremendous source of a whole gamut of vitamins, minerals and fibre that helps us in innumerable ways every day. From poor digestion, poor skin, poor blood flow to poor joints, there’s barely any problem that a fruit can’t fix.
But have you ever wondered, if there is an ‘ideal’ time to eat fruits. Turns out, there are some time windows where you can benefit more from these pulpy treats.
What is the best time to eat fruits?
Since fruits contain natural sugars, many experts often advise against eating fruits very late in the night, since the sugar spike and the sudden burst of energy may disrupt your sleep.
Instead, you can use this energy spike to your advantage right before a grueling work out session. Yes, many nutritionists would encourage you to have fruits pre –work out, as it will help you go through the session with much less hassle.
Fruits are an excellent source of energy and antioxidants
Having fruits post work out is also a great idea. If you often drink protein shakes, or have a snack that is rich in protein right after your work out, fruits help fasten protein absorption.
Another good time according to Ayurveda is during day time. Since this is the time our body’s digestive system works best, it is ideal to have majority of meals before the sun sets, including fruits.
Eating fruits at any time will not lead to weight gain, so it is okay if you cannot stick to a particular time to eat fruits. But make sure they are very much a part of your diet.
