Reiki has gained prominence as an intangible and alternative form of healing physical and mental health concerns. It works with the concept of Chakras, which literally translates to wheels or the energy centres which keep the body’s engine going. In Reiki, we work with seven main Chakras – where the main glands of our body from head to toe are present – and seven colours. We have to understand that no chakra works independently of other chakras in the body and the well-being of one is interlinked to another, thereby promoting holistic health. And adding certain foods to your diet, and colours to your environment and appearance can go a long way in promoting it.
What foods to eat according to Reiki Chakras
1. Crown Chakra; Colour: Violet; Food: Blackberry
On our head is the Crown Chakra, which is governed by the colour violet. This Chakra helps in developing our spiritual side. As per Reiki, we should be eating similar coloured food as per Chakras. For this particular chakra, you should eat more of Indian Blackberry (jamun) or brinjal. Fortunately, this is the season for getting fresh blackberry (Jamun), so if you want your crown Chakra to be more active, consume more it. Apart from food, we can also put on violet colour dress or add bracelets, chains or stones in violet to the accessories we flaunt.
2. Third Eye Chakra; Colour: Indigo; Food: Blueberry
Under the Crown Chakra, we have our Brow Chakra, which is in between both the eye brows, or where we apply a tika or wear bindi. This Chakra’s colour is Indigo, and so eating blueberry helps us in making more out of this Chakra. This Chakra is also known as the Third Eye Chakra and helps in meditation, as well as thinking and planning for future events. You can also wear more of dark blue coloured clothes or stones.
3. Throat Chakra; Colour: Sky Blue; Food: Blueberry
Throat Chakra is at the joint of our throat, and the colour that drives this is light blue. This Chakra can help you to improve your communication. You can also control your thyroids through it. Eat more of blueberry or wear light blue clothes to make the most of this Chakra. Light blue coloured stones, for example even turquoise, can work if you wear it in the form of a bracelet, ring or pendant.
4. Heart Chakra; Colour: Green; Food: Green vegetables
Below the throat, we have our Heart Chakra, and this is governed by the colour green. Consuming green fruits and vegetables like cucumber, spinach, lady finger, coriander, mint and more can help. Even Ayurveda promotes consumption of green vegetables to aid hypertension or other heart-related issues. Other than that, green coloured clothes and usage of semi-precious or precious green stones like peridot and emeralds can help.
5. Solar Plexus Chakra and Sacral Chakra; Colour: Yellow or orange; Food: Lemon, papaya
According to Reiki, the Solar Plexus Chakra is situated about two fingers above our navel. Yellow colour rules this chakra, and if you go two fingers under the navel, that is where you will find our Sacral Chakra. That is governed by orange. I am telling you about these two chakras together as most of us are unable to understand the troubling zone is Solar Plexus or Sacral Chakra. These two chakras control our lungs and digestion. We need to take more of musk melon and papaya in our regular diet. Lemon juice may be taken moderately to flush out any kind of internal body blockages. And yes, putting on clothes in yellow and orange colour, or wearing stones, can also exude the right energy needed for these chakras.
Root Chakra; Colour: Red; Food: Tomato, carrot, watermelon
Root Chakra or Base Chakra is ruled by red! This is also known as sex chakra. For any kind of women’s health issues like menstruation or PCOD, or even for men’s root chakra issues, one must eat more of red coloured fruits and veggies like watermelon, strawberry, cherry, tomato or carrot. Wearing red will also help!
