Making a bubbling-on-the-edges, gooey dish of lasagna is a labour-intensive and lengthy process. Besides, realistically speaking, how often do you find yourself making lasagna, unless it is going to be eaten for a special dinner or for a group of friends? Unfortunately, lasagna sheets come in packs, like most other types of pasta, but lack the creativity that is needed to repurpose and use more of these sheets in recipes. But what if we told you that these pasta sheets are useful for more than what it says on the packet? Here are some delicious ways to use up lasagna sheets that do not involve actually making lasagna.

Pie Crust

When you run out of store-bought pie dough or can’t seem to find the time or patience to knead some at home, simply boiling a handful of lasagna sheets and using them as a base for your pie filling works wonders in making a pie that is perfectly crispy and browned on the edges. Trust us, no one would be able to tell the difference!

Stir Fry

Don’t have noodles in your pantry to make your dinner stir fry? Don’t sweat it. Just cook a few lasagna sheets in boiling water until they’re soft enough to cut and toss them with your favourite veggies, protein and sauce for a noodle bowl that is comforting and spicy, at once.

Nachos

When you break up lasagna sheets into squares and deep fry them, they pretty much taste like nacho chips. Blanket them in a delicious cheese sauce and top off with onions, tomatoes, shredded chicken and jalapenos for a delicious game night snack.

Roll-Ups

A great option for kiddie lunchboxes, rolls ups are pretty versatile and easy to eat. Layer boiled sheets of pasta with ricotta cheese or an organic labneh spread and roll up with any kind of meat or veggies of choice. You could also make a grown-up version of these roll ups by adding some chilli and burrata cheese for an extra bit of creaminess and spice.

Pasta Soup

Adding broken bits of lasagna sheets to soup instead of throwing them away, is a frugal but creative way to ensure that the pasta is utilised in a delicious way. Whether it is a chicken noodle soup or a tangy minestrone soup, you’d never be able to tell the difference between actual noodles or lasagna sheet strips!
