Attention, Delhiites! Soon you’ll be able to dine at your favourite restaurants round the clock. In the run up to Diwali, authorities have announced a new policy revision, under which restaurants, hotels, eateries as well as delivery services in the Capital will remain open 24x7. This move is expected to give a major boost to Delhi’s food and beverage (F&B) industry, along with providing residents the convenience to head out at any time of the day or night.
Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, gave his stamp of approval to the proposal, permitting over 300 establishments to operate 24x7. After a series of notifications and pending proposals since 2016, the plea was finally approved and well, the festive season seems to be the perfect time to unfold this new idea.
"Good to know the measures government is considering to revive the hospitality industry post-Covid in terms of employment as well as entertainment but they should also consider to relax the liquor restrictions", says Umang Tiwari, owner of Big Fish Ventures. Owning a plethora of popular restaurants in Delhi, like Junkyard Cafe, Vault Cafe and Local, Umang adds that, "A big percentage of revenue is due to Restaurants & bars and if restrictions on the same is lifted, it will actually be very helpful for the hospitality industry".
Now, restaurants, hotels, and other eateries will be open for its customers even in the middle of the night. Meanwhile, the delivery services will also be allowed to operate round the clock and provide not just food but medicines and other such services as well. The increased functionality of the hospitality sector surely suggests a big boost in the F&B sector, as businesses are hopeful of better sales, especially in the wake of Diwali being round the corner.
Sahil Sambhi, Director of Molecule, Distillery, The Drunken Botanist & Vietnom expresses, "Excited and overwhelmed to hear the new government policy that has come forward stating that all the hotels, restaurants, and online delivery services that involve food, medicines, logistics, and transport services can now operate and run their business 24*7 in Delhi. Undoubtedly this is the most amazing opportunity for all the restauranteurs like us to come forward with more out-of-the-box ideas to keep entertaining our customers now for a longer time span and also provide much wanted and the most desired nightlife in Delhi city. With this, we can directly boost our revenues and increase the level of employment and tourist attraction from all over the countries and cities to our capital state of India".
Since restaurants and hotels will remain functional 24x7, it is also expected to positively impact the employment generation in the sector, and help improve the Capital’s economy. "We are glad to hear about this absolutely amazing move the government of Delhi has brought up wherein from restaurants to hotels to online deliveries to transport, everything will be available round-the-clock, to all the people living in the city or who have come to explore the city. This movement will dynamically boost our hospitality industry and bring forward a lot of opportunities for us to grab on, giving us a chance to be more innovative and creative in serving our everyday customers. Not just this, the new movement will also directly promote tourism and lead to a positive impact on the global economy of the country", says Mr.Udit Bagga, Co-founder of Cafe Out Of The Box.
