Oligomenorrhea is commonly termed as irregular or delayed periods is a quite common issue in the lives of women. Caused due to various factors like weight loss, mental stability, increased intensity of physical exercise, and stress, delayed periods can cause unwanted stress and panic amongst women. One missed period and you will find a woman scrounging through the browser for safe and natural ways to induce her periods. Here is the list of five magical fluids that you can consume daily to induce periods. 

1. Papaya smoothie

It's an age-old custom in most Indian households to prescribe papaya to everyone and anyone who has delayed or irregular periods. Papaya contains folic acid, riboflavin, Vitamin-B6, and B-1 which are significant in the production of estrogens in the body. Dr. Sadhna Singhal, Senior Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Delhi states that “Papayas help in regulating the menstrual cycles. Raw papayas contain a lot of heat that helps in stimulating the production of estrogens in the body, which results in normalizing periods.” Add an inch of ginger, papaya cubes, yogurt, and mint leaves, make a smoothie, and consume it twice a day to induce your periods. 

2. Ginger tea

A wonderful emmenagogue, ginger tea, when consumed in moderation is believed to induce periods. Ginger is believed to possess excess heat which causes the uterus to contract and cause periods. Consume ginger tea with honey twice a day on empty stomach to get your periods on time.

3. Cumin tea

Cumin seeds, commonly known as jeera in Hindi contain apiol and myristicin which stimulates contraction in the uterus, thus, inducing periods. Boil a tablespoon of cumin in 150 ml of water and consume it two to three times daily to get your periods on time. 

4. Fennel water

Drinking fennel water every day is believed to regulate periods and maintain a heavy flow. Soak some fennel seeds in water and leave them overnight. Strain the water the next morning and drink it empty stomach. You can also add honey to it for additional benefits and improved taste.

5. Pineapple juice

Rich in Vitamin C, pineapple is a great choice to increase estrogen levels in the body. Increased estrogen can result in uterus contractions resulting in menstruation. Pineapple also contains bromelain which helps in shedding the uterus lining and maintaining a healthy flow. Whip up some pineapple, sugar, black salt, and black pepper along with some ice cubes in a mixer and consume it daily to regulate your menses. 

These drinks have proved effective in inducing and regulating periods for ages. One should consume these drinks daily in moderate amounts to get better results. However, it is always advised to see a gynecologist if your periods continue to be irregular.
