Daal Omelette: Your Go-To Breakfast for Bodybuilding

The first-hand protein source that humans started consuming right for the inception of humanity is animal protein. Be it hunting, grilling or consumption of animal milk, animal protein in a number of different ways has always played a major role in improving the health of humans.

With the passage of time, eggs started becoming the most popular source of animal protein that are still being consumed on a large level in a number of different ways by different people around the world. Omelette is the most popular style of eggs consumed in India.

Today, we have a fusion Omelette for you to help you strengthen those muscles of yours.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Kala Chana (Bengal Gram)
  • ½ cup Moth Beans/ Sprouts
  • ½ cup Green Gram
  • ½ tablespoon Red Chilli Powder
  • ¼ tablespoon Turmeric
  • ¼ tablespoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Ghee
  • ¼ tablespoon Cumin / Jeera
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 4-5 Curry Leaves
  • 4 Eggs
  • Black Pepper/ Chilli Flakes (Optional)

Method:

  • For making this recipe, you will have to soak the Black Grams, Moth Beans and Green grams overnight or for at least 2 hours.
  • In a pressure cooker, add two cups of water and cook the Black grams until they turn soft. It will take at least four whistles of the pressure cooker.
  • For the Moth beans and Green Grams, take a separate utensil and boil around two cups of water in it. Boil the beans for 5-10 minutes till they are soft. Add a pinch of salt to the boiled water. Cook it for half an hour
  • Make sure to touch the beans and check whether they are properly cooked or not. The grams should be mushy on being crushed.
  • In a separate bowl, crack four whole eggs. Add ¼ tablespoon Garam Masala, Red Chilli Powder and Turmeric and whisk.
  • Make sure to whisk for at least two-three minutes, till you can see foam developing. This will make the Omelette fluffy.
  • In a separate saucepan, add your black grams, green grams and moth beans along with stir. Now, add a teaspoon of Ghee and mix again.
  • Make some empty space in the pan. Put ¼ tablespoon of Cumin in it and add 1 teaspoon of Ghee on the top of the cumin. Let it rest for a minute and mix it with the daal. Stir for two minutes.
  • Add chopped garlic and curry leaves in the pan and stir. 
  • Pour the beaten egg mix in the pan. Let it cook. Push the green beans in the middle and let the egg mixture cover the sides and cook.
  • Let it cook for two minutes. Flip it like a crepe and let it cook for two more minutes.

Enjoy your fusion Omelette as a healthy breakfast after coming back from the gym. The number of eggs used in the recipe could be altered according to the level of body-building one is practising. For example, beginners can cook this recipe with four eggs while advanced bodybuilders can use up to six eggs in the recipe.
