We know you are revising the dialogue “Yahan Parle G khaana pad raha hai kaali chai me dubo kar” from Sacred Games after reading the title. But have you forgotten the pleasant moments of savouring a packet of Parle G by dipping it in chai, water or milk? Be it any part of the country, the childhood of the majority of the population is filled with the excitement of seeing yellow packets of biscuits in the grocery bags. So, why not revisit our childhood by giving the Parle G a makeover and making delectable swiss rolls out of it? Here’s the recipe if you want to try it.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 packets Parle G biscuits
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • ¼ cup almond
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • Few drops of vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

METHOD

  1. Toast the almond on medium flame till they change colour. Keep them aside to cool. Blend them to a fine powder.
  2. Empty the biscuit packets into a blender and blend them to a coarse powder.
  3. Transfer the Parle G mixture to a bowl. Add sugar, salt, and cocoa powder; knead it to form a dough by gradually adding milk.
  4. Transfer the dough to butter paper and make a chocolate sheet out of it using a rolling pin.
  5. In a pan, add butter, sugar, milk powder, vanilla essence, and almond powder. Cook the mixture by stirring continuously to bring it to a thick consistency.
  6. Spread the almond and milk powder mixture on the chocolate sheet evenly.
  7. Start by rolling the chocolate sheet from one side. Be careful not to break it.
  8. Make a tight roll and wrap it tightly in aluminum foil.
  9. Refrigerate the rolls for an hour or so. Cut them into circular discs before serving.

You can serve these rolls with a drizzle of chocolate sauce or any syrup of your choice. Make these rolls at home to revisit old times and also serve your kids a delicious snack.
