They say break a leg, we say break an egg. That’s right. All egg lovers out there, this one is for you. My mornings generally start with a plate of freshly tossed masala omlette or sunny side up with two slices of buttered toast. This breakfast kick starts my day in just the right way. On days when I’m very relaxed and have a lot of time to spare, I can go on making eggs but often times, I tell my mother to make eggs for me because they seem like a task. Even though it might seem like the easiest thing at the outset, yet making eggs is no joke. To get that perfectly poached egg (which doesn’t break in the process of lifting) or the right kind of boiled eggs, you need to be an eggs-pert.
My father and I share the love for eggs. Be it Sunday or Monday, we need our daily dose of eggs no matter what’s happening around us. Eggs are to us what coffee is to others, our morning energy booster. So when my mother isn’t around, we both get into the kitchen and start on our eggs-pedition. We’ve discovered that are there are certain tricks and hacks which you can follow to make life easier. Here are some of them.
1. The Microwave Technique
Now you don’t need a pan to poach your eggs. All you need is a mug, some water and a microwave. Yes, you read that right. Making poached eggs was never this easy. Simply put the mug into microwave for about 45 seconds and your eggs breakfast is ready.
2. The Plastic Bag Formula
This ninja technique of making omlette in a plastic bag is just wonderful. If you don’t want to clean up after making an omlette or are in a hurry, simply take a plastic bag and fill it with the egg and other ingredients. Let it cook in simmering water and there you go. Your delicious omlette is ready on the go.
3. Scramble It All
You are absolutely right in thinking what you are right now. Mood for some scramble business today? The microwave can come to your rescue yet again. Put the eggs along with the some milk, salt and pepper as per your taste. Whisk and microwave it for one and half minute. Stir in between after a few seconds. Your scrambled eggs will turn out just fine.
4. The Crowd Easer
Why do we say that? Well, if you’ve got a host of eggs to make and not much time, we say cook it all together. Take a sheet pan and spread your whisked eggs mixed with salt and pepper on it. Bake it in the oven and slice it into pieces as per your requirement.
5. Boiling Down To The Core
There are two ways in which you can do it, depending on your preference. If you like hard-boiled eggs, opt for boiling water. In case you like soft-boiled ones then cold water should be your best option.
