Christmas is synonymous with cakes and when it’s around the corner, it is fair to talk about some amazingly delicious cakes. If there is one ingredient that can make the cakes irresistible, it could be nothing but our favourite rum. Rum adds a bold and sweet flavour to the cake and also makes it more glazy.
Right from many old-fashioned cakes to many new cocktail-inspired cakes, rum is a must. Just to make your Christmas special, let’s see some rum-based cake recipes. Believe me, these recipes are something that just cannot be missed.
Golden Rum Cake
Ingredients
- 1 pack of yellow cake mix
- Instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup dark rum
- ¾ cup water
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup white sugar
- ½ cup butter
Method
- Take a large bowl and add cake mix. Also, add vanilla mix and give it a good mix.
- Add eggs, ½ cup rum, ½ cup water, and oil. Combine everything together.
- Take a 10-inch Bundt pan and grease it properly. Also, preheat the oven to 325 degrees Celsius.
- Pour the batter into a greased pan and bake it for 45 to 50 minutes.
- Do a toothpick test and see if the tooth comes out clean.
- Heat a saucepan and add sugar, butter, and remaining water. Bring it to a boil.
- Make sure you keep stirring for 5 minutes. Turn off the flame after 5 minutes.
- Let it cool a little and add the remaining rum.
- After the baked cake is cooled down, place it on the serving plate.
- Brush the glaze on top and sides. Wait till the glaze is absorbed.
- Repeat with the remaining glaze and serve!
Rum And Chocolate Cheesecake
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup ground almonds
- 2/3 cup vegan margarine
- 1 packet tofu
- 2 cups demerara sugar
- ½ cup sunflower seed oil
- ¼ cup dark rum
- ½ cup soy milk
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
Method
- Take a bowl and add wheat flour. Also, add ground almonds.
- Combine everything to form a dough.
- Then, press the dough towards the bottom and halfway up the sides on a springform pan.
- Take a blender and add crumbled tofu. Also add cocoa powder, sugar, soy milk, oil, rum, and vanilla. Process everything together until it gets creamy and smooth.
- Pour the filling into the crust and bake it in a preheated oven for 70 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool.
Chocolate Rum Cake
- 4 eggs
- 1 pack chocolate cake mix
- 1 pack instant chocolate pudding mic
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup white rum
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup white sugar
- ½ cup butter
- ¼ cup white rum
- ¼ cup water
Method
- Grease a Bundt pan and preheat an oven to 325 degrees Celsius.
- Add chopped nuts to the bottom of the Bundt pan.
- Take an electric mixer and beat together the cake mix, oil, pudding mix, ½ cup water, and ½ cup rum for 2 minutes. Pour the batter on the chopped pans in the Bundt pan.
- Bake at 165 degrees Celsius for 50 to 60 minutes.
- Take a saucepan and add butter, sugar, ¼ cup rum, and ¼ cup water. Boil the mixture and cook for 2 minutes.
- When done, pour over the warm cake.
