Adding chicken is always fun, you can prepare a keema of potato along with minced chicken instead of just potatoes. So, gather all the ingredients and start making this fusion vada pav.
Ingredients
For making the chicken filling
200 grams chicken ( minced )
One large onion ( chopped )
3 large potatoes ( boiled and mashed )
One cup green pea
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon garlic ginger paste
4-5 garlic pods
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon coriander
1 piece black and green cardamom
1 ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
4 green chilli
Half teaspoon mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Salt to taste
For batter
Oil for frying
6 spoon chickpea besan
Salt to taste
Half a teaspoon of ajwain
Method
- Add two tablespoons of oil to the pan and add the cinnamon, cardamom and cumin. Add onion and fry until golden.
- Add the ginger and garlic paste, coriander powder, chilli powder and salt and saute until the masala is cooked through. Then add the minced chicken and mix with everything. Add the peas and mix. Cover with a lid and cook for ten to fifteen minutes by continually stirring.
- Sprinkle it with curry leaves and add lemon juice. Set aside and let cool.
- Meanwhile, make a thick and smooth dough from chickpea flour, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric and water. Let it rest for a while.
- Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan and fry the green chilli and garlic pods. After cooling, grind them in a mixer.
- Put two teaspoons of oil, mustard seeds and curry leaves in the same saucepan, season with salt to taste. Then add the mashed potatoes with turmeric and chilli powder, salt and fry until soft. Let it cool down.
- Pour two tablespoons of potato and chicken mixture in the middle of your palm and shape into a round ball.
- Dip it into chickpea flour batter, fry and season with pav and chutney.
