If you are familiar with Middle Eastern cuisine, you would surely know about pita bread and hummus. Another commonly eaten street food is Gyro, which is a cross between a sandwich and a wrap, made with pita bread and stuffed with vegetables, meat, and yoghurt sauce. The rotisserie-style meat is filled into the bread to make it an easy-to-eat snack.
Now, a chef is giving Gyros an interesting spin. Chef Servdeep Singh- Head Chef at Chickeera, a fast-casual restaurant chain, serving Lebanese delicacies in New York cart-style way with hints of Mexican flavours - is known for his delectable Chicken Gyro Ashet. Ashet, for the uninitiated, is a large and shallow oval-shaped plate that is used for serving food. Here, the Gyro is stuffed with fillings like chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and pita bread, which is layered in well-defined rows, one next to another.
Here is a recipe for the delicious treat that we’ve fetched from the chef for you to try at home.
