Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar suggested 5 superfoods that you all should have in order to strengthen your body’s defense system. She talked about them in her audiobook titled ‘Eating in the Age of Dieting’ available on Audible. Let’s find out all about them one by one.

Bananas

Apart from providing you instant energy, bananas are a good source of fiber that is good for digestion. Being low in calories and high in nutrients, bananas can help in weight loss. Native to Southeast Asia, this fruit is known as an immunity booster. Bananas are good for fertility too and enhance your mood for good. Rujuta Diwekar suggests those who are not a big fan of bananas can opt for banana flour instead of fruit. She says, “It's the kind of food that’s fit for the goodness within.” So, “Banana zaroor khana.”

 Jackfruit

Jackfruit is an “aam aadmi fruit” that has an impressive nutrition profile. This exotic tropical fruit contains immunity-boosting vitamins A and C. Having jackfruit regularly may keep viral infections at bay and prevent skin problems heart disease and diabetes at bay too. Its daily intake can keep your sugar level in check. Jack fruit is considered a perfect meat alternative. 

Sitaphal/Custard Apple

Custard apple is packed with antioxidants like vitamin C that can keep your immunity optimum by helping in fighting against harmful free radicals. The fruit is also rich in vitamin A, which keeps your skin healthy. Those at high risk of getting a cardiac arrest should eat sitaphal as it protects your heart from such conditions. 

Jaam/Jamun

This refreshing summer fruit has a tangy taste. Jamun is low in calories and packed with vitamin C. It also contains nutrients including magnesium, calcium, iron, and folic acid. Having Jamun daily can improve your haemoglobin count, manage diabetes and help in weight loss. 

Kusum - A Microberry

This wild and uncultivated fruit tastes playful. Found in India and South East Asia, Kusum has therapeutic properties. It can not only keep your immunity optimum but also prevent hair loss and acne.
