Black Gram Laddoo Recipe: A Healthy Laddoo Is All We Want

Black urad dal is mainly found in Asian cuisine. Black gram is rich in protein, fat and carbohydrates and packed with iron, folic acid, calcium, magnesium and potassium. It is filled with many health benefits including good digestion, improves skin health, controls hair loss, helps in weight loss.
Making this laddoo recipe is easy and fun. Here’s what you need to make black gram laddoo.
Ingredients
  • ½ cup of ghee
  • ¾ cup of black gram ( whole urad dal with black skin ) 
  • 1 cup of grated jaggery
  • ¼ cup daliya ( roasted )
  • 1 tbsp cashew nuts
  • 4-5 cardamom
Recipe
  • Start with roasting black gram over medium heat until you get a nice aroma and the lentils turn light brown.
  • Put the roasted gram aside to cool. Roast the daliya in the same hot pan for a minute.
  • Put both the roasted black gram and the roasted daliya in a blender with cardamom and grind it into a smooth powder.
  • Add grated jaggery in the same blender and grind again until the jaggery is completely dissolved. 
  • Now, roast the cashews in the ghee until it turns golden brown.
  • Add roasted cashews to the ground laddoo mixture.
Method of making laddoo
  • In a pan, melt ghee in very low heat. 
  • Take some of the mixtures. Add a splash of ghee to the mixture and mix well with a spoon.
  • Using your palms, make small balls with the laddoo mixture. Repeat the same process for the rest of the laddoo.
Tip: You can also use white urad dal for this recipe.
