Ingredients you’ll need for baked kachori
– 50 gms urad dal powder
– 3 tsp red chilli powder
– 6 tsp dhaniya powder
– 4 tsp fennel powder
– ¼ tsp hing (asafoetida)
– 1 tsp yeast
– 250 gms wheat flour
– 2 tsp sugar
– Water
– Salt to taste
– 1-2 tsp oil
Here’s how you can make baked kachori
Let’s start with the filling first:
Step 1: Take a bowl and put urad dal powder in it. Start adding water proportionally and knead it well. Leave it for 30 minutes, and ensure that it has swollen up and dried.
Step 2: Now, add red chilli powder, dhaniya powder, fennel powder, salt, hing, and add warm water to make the filling soft.
Now, let’s get to making the kachoris:
Step 1: Put wheat flour in a bowl and add sugar, water, and yeast. Mix the ingredients well.
Note: Add sufficient water and knead the ingredients to make a stiff dough. Cover the bowl with cling film and let the dough rest for at least an hour.
Step 2: When the dough becomes dry, add little oil to it and start making patties by stuffing the centre with urad dal filling.
Tip: Press these patties gently and roll them into small puris. Ensure that the edges are thinner than the centre.
Step 3: Spread oil on a baking tray and bake the patties in a preheated oven at 160 degrees. The kachoris should have a crisp and light golden brown colour.
The kachoris are prepared, ready to be served, and enjoyed.
So, ladies, try this recipe to enjoy a healthy and delicious snack over a hot cup of tea, this monsoon.
