Recently, nutritionist Lovneet Batra took to Instagram and shared 6 foods that can be beneficial for diabetes. In a post shared, she wrote, “Including the following foods in your diet may help in managing diabetes”.  She added “Remember, diabetes management is a lifelong commitment, and with the right care, diet, and lifestyle choices, you can lead a healthy and fulfilling life”. Here are the suggestions by the nutritionist. 

Amla 

Amla is known for its many medicinal properties. As per nutritionist Lovneet Batra, amla contains chromium, a kind a mineral which helps in the regulation of carbohydrate metabolism. It can make the body more responsive to insulin and thus, can keep a check on the blood sugar levels. 

Jamun 

Jamun is that purple-hued fruit commonly spotted in the markets during summer. Did you know that this little fruit is beneficial for diabetes too? According to nutritionist Batra, Jamun comprises of a compound called jamboline which can help in regulating blood sugar levels.  

Neem 

Neem is said to be a crucial medicine in the Ayurveda. It can be a natural detoxifier and is a boon for the skin. Not just this, neem can also be beneficial for diabetics. Neem has the potential to reduce glucose uptake through up-regulation of glucose transporter 4 and can help in inhibition of key intestinal enzymes such as glucosidases, as per nutritionist Lovneet Batra. 

Cinnamon 

This aromatic and flavourful spice can be commonly found in every other kitchen. Not just is it a flavour enhancer but also an efficient remedy for diabetes. If some studies are to be believed, cinnamon has properties that can mimic the effects of insulin and can remove sugar from the blood. 

Bitter Gourd 

This vegetable may not be your favourite, but believe me, it is so much healthier than you could have ever thought. Because of its properties, it can efficiently reduce blood sugar levels. It can help in bringing glucose into the cells for energy and benefit accordingly. 

Flaxseeds 

Seeds and nuts are always considered appropriate for consumption when it comes to having a fit and healthy body. Flaxseeds are no exception. As per nutritionist Lovneet Batra, flaxseeds contain a good amount fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and lignans. Thus, it can help in regulating blood sugar levels and can improve insulin sensitivity.
