Actress Anushka Sharma, who has been championing veganism by example, shared a picture of her dinner plate last night on Instagram. In the image that she captioned, “simplicity”, was a portion of some steamed short grain rice, paired with a serving of the Bengali delicacy, aloo pitika. The actress, who is married to Virat Kohli, has also previously been vocal about her love for Bengali food, when she shared pictures of gorging on panta bhat and baigun bhaja.

Ingredients
- 2 potatoes, boiled
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 green chillies, chopped
- ½ tablespoon mustard oil
- Salt, to taste
Method
- Mash the potatoes into a smooth yet chunky consistency and season with salt.
- Add the onions and green chillies, mix well to combine. Pour warm mustard oil over the mixture and stir well for the flavours to build.
- Shape into a ball and enjoy with piping hot ghee rice.
