With pre- wedding festivities starting in Jamnagar and various rituals and events related to the wedding taking place across the globe, the most talked about couple Anant Ambani Ambani and Radhika Merchant were finally married on July 12.
While celebrities, politicians, actors, industrialists and sports personalities were seen at almost every function of what is said to go down in history as the ‘world’s most expensive wedding,’ the wedding day VIP list included former UK PM Boris Johnson, reality TV stars Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian, wrestler John Cena, Bollywood A-listers Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra among others. After Rihanna gracing the pre-wedding events, Justin Beiber had the guests spring to their feet this time around.
The World’s Best Chefs
There have been several high-profile chefs who have catered to the past event. However it became rather obvious that nothing other than the world’s absolute best would do for the coveted finale.
Along with Chef Virgilio Martínez, award-winning chef Avinash Martins who helms Cavatina in Goa, treated the wedding guests to elevated Goan fare. From Tender Coconut Carpaccio, Asparagus and Pine Nut Caldin to Pao De Queso, Dirty Grilled Sweet Potato and Corn Gallette and Grilled Oyster Mushroom Xacuti, the list of vegetarian fare looked long and delicious. While the chef, who is a seafood specialist, stayed away from vegetarian staples such as paneer, tofu, and broccoli the menu also included Dangar Artisinal Goat’s Cheese and mango-curry-based wok tossed Edamamme and Brussels Sprouts Kismur.
What Was On The Menu?
According to images of the menu, making the rounds on social media, the chef cooked an entire vegetarian meal featuring dishes such as Zucchini & Asparagus Tiradito with Purple Amaranth, Avocado Emulsion and Peruvian Corn, Cantaloupe Ceviche and Burrata. A Cashew Roll with Mountain Chimichurri and Fresh Cheese, Dates & Lentil Triangles with Pistachio Tigers Milk apart from Extreme Altitude Seeds, Smoked Tomato, Burnt Cauliflower with Strawberry, Aji Limo, Saffron and Amazonian Cassava Textures with Coconut Milk.
While many Internet users couldn’t stop themselves from commenting about how unfamiliar the ingredients and the food sounds, there were also memes and questions about what ingredients such as pistachio tiger milk and Amazonian Cassava actually are.
The wedding food earlier made news because it was reported that Nita Ambani was spotted in Varanasi offering the first wedding card at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and then also seen at Varanasi’s iconic Kashi Chaat Bhandar. There was a buzz then that this being one of oldest shops in Varanasi will also cater at the Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding. While later there were several celebrity posts and photos raving about the chaat at the wedding, videos of how the Ambani’s had recreated a world with lassi shops and chai shops lining narrow streets just the way they do in Varanasi, also became viral.
