A Year After Priyanka Chopra's Exit, SONA Restaurant To Shut

Back in 2021, Priyanka Chopra Jonas opened a restaurant in New York, SONA. The actor opened the restaurant in collaboration with Maneesh K Goyal, who is also Priyanka Chopra’s friend and former business partner, as co-founder. SONA became quite popular in little time with its reimagined traditional Indian cuisine.

However, in August 2023, Priyanka Chopra announced that she was parting ways with SONA, but the restaurant’s true fans never imagined it to shut down. Within ten months of Priyanka Chopra exiting the venture, the restaurant has confirmed on its Instagram handle that they will serve their last meal on June 30, 2024.

The post from SONA’s official Instagram handle reads, “After more than three remarkable years, SONA will be closing. We are immensely grateful to everyone who walked through our doors. It has been our greatest honour to serve you. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated team, who offered delicious food, smiles, and warmth every day. SONA's final service will be brunch on Sunday, June 30th. We hope to see you one last time for a meal or a drink. Our doors and hearts are open."

The Instagram post made the audience react with sad and heartfelt comments like, “ SONA was way more, way many things than just being one of the most incredible restaurants in NYC’s culinary landscape. Sona was a cultural hub that brought communities together, a place for creatives to meet, ideate and collaborate and above all, a place that celebrated all of us, our culture and ideas.”

Some of the other comments included, “Sending so much love - have so appreciated this beautiful space, warm community, and delicious meals over the last few years!” and “You will be deeply missed! We have such great memories there, and the food is superb!” and you can see a lot of people reminiscing their days at the restaurant.

Not just the comments by the loyal customers, but Maneesh Goyal also shared a long and emotional note on his Instagram handle describing his thoughts behind starting SONA and his way forward.
