5 Ways To Use Leftover Rice To Make Delicious Recipes

Everybody likes eating fresh food in the desirable quantity. In the kitchen, we often have to deal with the problem of leftovers that do not taste fresh and or are not in the accurate quantity to be reused by anyone. Leftover rice is quite an interesting ingredient that you can use to make many dishes. There are so many ways that you can transform your mundane leftover rice into something very special and delicious. If you never tried using your leftover rice to make something scrumptious, then here are five wonderful recipes that you can try at home.

* Rice Vadi

If you're craving something crispy and deep fried as the perfect snack for your teatime, then leftover rice can be the perfect ingredient to make the most delicious teatime snack. All you need is just a handful of ingredients along with a bowl of leftover boiled rice. Make sure that you mix the rice and all the other ingredients, garlic paste, curry leaves, green chilli paste, salt and some hang together. Make a thick paste-like consistency out of the mixture. Take a small plastic sheet or a thin cloth. Place small balls made out of your rice paste and place it on the plastic sheet. Let them dry in the sun completely after which you can deep fry them. You can make homemade chutney along with these snacks.

* Rice Pops

This is another delightful recipe that you can try making from leftover rice. You do not need any over-the-top ingredients, just a little bit of creativity. It can be a perfect party appetiser option as they are small in size and easy to pass from one guest to another. To make these rice pops you need some basic Indian spices like turmeric, green chilli, salt, garam masala along with mashed potatoes and sweet corn. Create a mixture of mashed potatoes and sweet corn mixed with some spices. Now in another bowl, mix the boiled rice really well and mix all the spices. Make a small ball out of mashed potatoes and sweetcorns and cover them with the mixture of rice. You can deep fry the small balls in oil and enjoy them with red chilli sauce.

* Rice Muthiya 

Muthiya is a popular Gujarati snack that is made out of using besan, methi and some spices. In this version of the Gujarati snack we use leftover rice instead of chickpea flour. It is a lip-smacking delicacy and a great way to use the leftover rice in your kitchen. What makes the snack so special is the fact that it is not deep-fried but steamed. This makes it a healthier version of a snack and you can enjoy it guilt-free. Take a bowl and add your boiled rice along with a handful of chopped coriander. 

Now add handva flour to the mixture. In a separate bowl, take some whole wheat flour, add a little bit of oil to the mixture and mix everything thoroughly. Add the mixture of oil and whole wheat flour to the rice mix. The next step is to add some plain yoghurt, ginger, garlic and green chillies along with salt, red chilli powder, cumin powder, and jaggery. Now add some more vegetable oil to your dough and make small balls out of it. You can deep fry it and serve it fresh and crunchy.

* Cheese Burst Balls

If you want to upgrade your regular rice balls, then making these cheese burst balls made out of rice base is also an exciting way of using your leftover rice. You have to make a simple dough out of boiled rice along with coriander leaves and some spices. Mash everything well so that rice loses its grainy texture and becomes semisolid. Add some vegetable oil to make the door more flexible. Now make small circular rotis out of the dough with the help of your hands. Add some shredded cheese to this small roti. Now roll it with the help of your palms in a circular shake and fry them.

* Rice Pancake

The only sweet dessert we know that is made from rice is kheer. Most of us can never think of making a pancake out of rice but you will be surprised to know how delicious it is. Rice pancakes can be a wonderful breakfast option if you're tired of eating your regular, all-purpose flour pancakes. You can also use different types of toppings that go well with the flavour of rice. To make this rice pancake you have to take some mashed-boiled rice and add some blended oats along with milk and eggs to the mixture. Add some honey to the mixture for sweetness. Give everything a good mix and make your pancake with the help of this batter.
