Most of us love eating and exploring different kinds of food but not always our stomach reacts to these foods well. Indigestion is a common problem for a lot of people. It can lead to so many issues like bloating, gas as well as abdominal pain. Even if the foods we eat are healthy, they sometimes are hard to digest. So, what to do? Recently, Ayurvedic Dr Nitika Kohli took to Instagram and shared a list of vegetables that should be avoided for better digestion.
In the post shared, Dr Nitika Kohli wrote, “There's a beautiful symphony between our body and seasonal vegetables. Seasons do have a drastic impact on our body but if we tune our lifestyle to it, it will bring nothing but pure bliss. Following up on the current season and its beautiful aura, Dr. Nitika Kohli prepared a list of vegetables which one needs to avoid eating during Varsha Ritu. These vegetables don't just disturb the natural flow of our body but also mess up our digestive fire.
Bell Peppers
Eaten raw as well as cooked, bell peppers contain essential nutrients, but it may not be ideal for digestion. As per Ayurvedic Expert Dr Nitika Kohli, bell pepper or shimla mirch’s raw and (sheetal) nature can disturb Agni (digestive fire) and can cause Amlapitta and aggravate Vata and Pitta dosha.

Spinach
This leafy vegetable is a powerhouse of nutrients and minerals but as per Ayurvedic Expert Dr Kohli, it should be avoided for better digestion. According to Dr Kohli, one must avoid spinach during monsoon as it aggravates Vatta and Pitta doshas and decreases kapha doshas in the body. It can cause gastrointestinal infections and digestive issues, especially during monsoon.
Cauliflower
As per Dr Kohli, cauliflower or gobhi because of its cooling and watery nature, can hinder digestive fire. It aggravates the Vatta dosha and decreases Kapha and Pitta doshas in the human body.
Cabbage
Used in different cuisines across the world, cabbage makes its way to salads, noodles, stir-fries and what not? However, Ayurveda suggests avoiding this vegetable. According to Dr Kohli, the sheetal (cooling) and guru (heavy) properties of cabbage can impair the Agni (digestive fire).
Tomatoes
Prices of tomatoes have been skyrocketing for the last few days and thus, this basic kitchen ingredient is on everybody’s mind. As per Ayurveda, tomatoes should be avoided for better digestion. As per Dr Nitika Kohli, the hot and sour properties of tomato can cause Amlapitta (acidity) and can aggravate Tridosha.
