The kitchen is known as the most important room of the household and keeping it clean and top notch should be the prime focus. Although several cleansers are available in supermarkets, there rests an indispensable item in the kitchen cupboard that can give you the dream cleanliness of your kitchen. It is none other than vinegar.

Vinegar is considered an affordable, accessible, and effective ingredient that can clean anything and everything. When vinegar is mixed with water, it becomes an effective cleanser that can help your kitchen to become spotless and shiny like a new one. Besides, vinegar is a natural disinfectant, bidding goodbye to germs and bacteria. The acidity in vinegar helps dissolve grime and neutralise odours, thus making it an ideal cleanser.

Here are some kitchen spots that can benefit from a good vinegar cleaning. Take a look:

  • Countertops

Vinegar is the perfect cleanser for cleaning most countertops, especially ones made from laminate or solid surface materials. You can mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and clean the surface. Spray the solutions onto the countertops and let them sit for a few minutes, lastly wiping it down with a clean cloth. Vinegar not only removes grease and grime but also disinfects the surface. Do not use vinegar on granite or marble countertops as the acidity can damage these natural stones.

  • Microwave

Often microwave harbours food splatters and odours. To get rid of them, vinegar can help you. All you need to do is fill a microwave-safe bowl with a mixture of half water and half vinegar. Microwave the bowl on high for about 5 minutes. The steam from the solution will loosen the stuck-on food particles. Remove the bowl carefully and wipe the interior with a damp cloth. If your microwave has stubborn spots, dip the cloth in the vinegar solution and scrub it off gently.

  • Refrigerator

It is essential to keep your refrigerator clean and odour-free. To achieve this, make a solution with equal parts water and vinegar and spray it all over the shelves, drawers, and walls of the fridge and then wipe it down. The solution effectively removes the grime and neutralises the odour, without leaving any harsh chemical residues that could contaminate your food. If you want a deeper clean, soak removable parts like shelves and drawers and dip in a vinegar solution. Lastly, rinse and dry them before placing them back in the refrigerator.

  • Stovetop And Oven

Oftentimes, it can be challenging to remove the grease and food spills on the stovetop and oven. To get rid of it, spray a mixture of equal parts of vinegar and water on the surface and let it sit for a few minutes, before wiping it clean. For the oven, create a paste made of vinegar and baking soda. Apply the paste to the interior surface and let it sit for several hours or overnight. Scrub it off with a sponge or brush to remove the residue.

  • Sink And Faucet

You can effectively clean stainless-steel sinks and faucets with the help of vinegar. The acidity helps dissolve mineral deposits and soap scum. You can clean your sink by plugging the drain and filling the sink with warm water and one cup of vinegar. Allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes and then scrub and drain. For faucets, soak a cloth in vinegar and wrap it around the faucet. Let it sit for about 30 minutes and then scrub it off with a brush and rinse with water. This method leaves your sink and faucets spotless and sparkling.
