The importance of immunity in our daily lives cannot be overstated. It is vital to our health as it protects us from diseases, illnesses and more. A person with weak immunity faces many problems in his daily life such as constant struggle with sickness while doing their responsibilities, lack of energy or enthusiasm, regular bedrest and weight fluctuations and overconsumption of medication which is exactly why you need a proper well-functioning immune system.

Immunity is not built in a single day, it is a continuous process which consists of healthy relations between you and your food, regular exercise and workout along with a healthy mindset which is not too stressed or tense.

When it comes to diet, it is always advised to treat your food as medicine and it is an advice that everyone should follow. But many people often fail in front of their cravings and the inability to eat healthy on a routine basis. In this article, we will look at some common mistakes that may be the reason behind your weakened immune system.

You Load Up On Bakery Products

It is no secret that bakery products are extremely delicious and addictive and they are often the first thing we look for to eat along with our cup of coffee in the morning. These foods could be anything from croissants, doughnuts, muffins, cupcakes, white bread, cookies and more. But no matter how yummy they are, they lack nutrients and are basically empty calories loaded with refined carbs, added sugar and salt.

Sugary foods are packed with empty calories and make you gain weight causing you tiredness and the unwillingness to perform any physical activities which ultimately leads to a weakened immune system.

Skipping Breakfast

On one side there are people who load up on too many unhealthy foods in the morning and on the other hand, there are people who simply skip the whole meal. Breakfast is often regarded as the most important meal of the day and there are some good reasons behind it.

The food you eat in the morning sets your body up for the entire day that's about to follow. Not giving your body enough nourishment at the beginning of the day could lead to tiredness, lack of enthusiasm and focus. Also trying to overwork your body without food could lead to excess strain on your body, thus weakening its defences.

Impractical Goals

Many people want to lose weight and to achieve that, they start following extreme diet plans that devoid them of many important nutrients while attempting to reduce calories. It is understandable you need a calorie deficit to lose weight but a sudden drastic change in diet is not the way to go. Instead, go on a calorie deficit of 100-200 calories with regular exercise so that you don't essential nutrients while also keeping your diet goals on track.

Avoiding Dairy

In today's world where everything vegan or non-dairy is considered a healthier alternative to traditional dairy items, it could be easy to fall into the same bandwagon. Dairy products such as milk, yoghurt, cheese, and ghee have various nutrients that help in making your immunity stronger. The probiotics in yoghurt especially help with better gut health and immunity while keeping your bones strong with their calcium content.

Although it is understandable that you cannot consume dairy if you are lactose intolerant or allergic. Simply consult a nutritionist to compensate for those nutrients with other healthy foods or supplements.

Not Drinking Enough Water

Our bodies are literally made up of 60 percent water which is enough to show how crucial it is for our bodies to function properly or to function at all. To increase your water consumption, you don't always need to use a bottle of water while you are working. Simply add water-rich foods such as cucumber, melons, peaches, strawberries and more along with your regular water consumption to boost the overall water percentage in your body.

Not drinking enough water leads to dehydration. Dehydration has the potential to weaken your body's immune system while also causing other physical discomforts such as cramps and dizziness.
