For thalassophiles, Goa is a paradise on earth. The place's resilience to retain its rustic charm in various pockets adds to its laidback vibe. Goa hasn't given in to urbanization, and perhaps many travellers from across the globe keep coming to unwind. Often a shack or an eatery overlooking the beach and the azure sea is the top preference for most visitors. To win their hearts, the hospitality players here go the extra mile. A perfect venue, complementing decor, finger-licking grub, music for the soul and an assortment of exotic cocktails, make Olive Bar & Kitchen, Vagator Goa, a preferred destination.
I had heard about rave reviews of this place. Especially its meze platter and signature drinks. So, I decided to give it a shot on my last visit. I was smitten the moment I stepped into this place which reminded me of similarities with Santorini. Resting in a cliffside recess with a panorama of Vagator Beach, this place settles into its lovely spot in the sun. It is the right spot to unwind, dine, and get mesmerised in this windblown, slightly sun-kissed, and unrushed place. The decor has a dominance of white and light blue. And it is employed on walls, rattan furniture and furnishings.

After touring the dining area, I settled for a table in the breezy alfresco area. If you want to get the most out of this place, come by 4.30- 5.00 pm. You can watch the sun bidding adieu for the day and setting on the horizon leaving a crimson hue in the sky. Simultaneously, Olive lits up with fancy lamps and fairy lights and turns into a dreamy world.
Its wooden bar is strategically located in the centre, and its craft cocktails capture maximum footfalls. Though I am not much drinker, the Signature OG Cocktails appeared tempting. The humble Chef Evan guided me about the most in-demand heady drinks and edibles from the menu. And I set out on my adventure to explore four cocktails to keep my spirit high.
Raspberry Sorbet
Raspberry sorbet
I was told that this bar's Sorbet G&T is the highest crowd puller. To make the cocktail, the Beefeater gun is shaken with lime and elderflower syrup and poured over one preferred sorbet flavour. One has three options strawberry, raspberry and coconut. I went ahead with the raspberry. For mild drinkers, it might appear a bit strong in the first few sips, but later it grows over you, and the tangy, zesty, sweet and strong taste feels stimulating.
Garden Of Eden
The taste of this exotic cocktail justifies its name. This gin-based beverage has an infusion of lemongrass and ginger, adding a sharp taste. Then it is shaken with lemon juice and lychee purée. A few drops of basil oil go on the top. If you want a refreshing experience, try this.
Olive's Coconut Cooler

Served in a tender coconut shell, this is a must-try for those who love tropical drinks. It is a perfect concoction of fresh coconut water, Jasmine tea, passion fruit syrup and a good amount of premium vodka.
Watermelon Wowzer

As much as the name rings in your ears, the sight of it makes your eye go wow. Served in a scooped-out watermelon shell, this cocktail is made with fresh watermelon chunks, pomegranate juice, and lemon juice and blended with a generous amount of dark rum and grenadine.
My personal favourite is raspberry sorbet. Share which one would you like to try.
