The countdown for Diwali has begun as only a couple of weeks left to celebrate one of the biggest festivals of light, joy, prosperity, and togetherness with utmost zeal and spirit of love. Diwali is one of the most awaited festivals in India that symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness. This auspicious festival is more than just about dressing up in newest and vibrant clothes, bursting fire crackers, beautifully decorating your surroundings with beaming lights, candles and a display of handcrafted rangoli and of course indulging yourself in festive delicacies.

This Hindu festival marks the beginning of new ventures in life, ray of hope, good luck and the end of evil. The day is whole-heartedly dedicated to the worship of Goddess Laxmi, the Hindu Goddess of wealth and purity. All of us gather together and pray to God and offer them bhog or prasad.

Before getting started in the preparation of an array of innumerable snacks, indulgent sweets and a variety of other dishes, the first thing that's prepared fresh and early in the morning is the prasad or bhog that’s offered to Goddess Laxmi. In Rajasthan, churma is a part of many prasads that's offered to God while praying. Churma is a powdered mixture of jaggery, wheat, sugar and nuts that is grinded coarsely and then roasted in pure ghee.

Let the festivities begin with this Rajasthani Churma, you can make in three different ways

Mogri Ka Churma

Mogri churma is a delicious churma that is prepared with wheat flour, jaggery, nuts and dry fruits. This Marwari special churma is quite unique and wholesome. First a dough-like structure is prepared, which is made using wheat flour, jaggery and water. It is powdered again and then filtered, the filtered powder is what is known as ‘Mogri’.

Bajre Ka Churma

Bajra flour like every other churma is prepared with jaggery, ghee, cardamom but with bajra flour instead of wheat flour.

Chocolate Churma
