The highlight of the eggs benedict is surely the hollandaise sauce. Made with simple ingredients such as yolk, lemon juice and butter, you need to try it once if you haven’t already. The rise of fashionable ways to make eggs benedict has taken Gurugram by storm. We must have eaten eggs benedict so many times in the city now. But have you explored the nooks and crannies where the “egg-citement” is taking a different form in Gurugram?
Many chefs have showcased some spectacular creations, and we definitely cannot keep calm. Why do these eggs benedict have such a cult following, though? Well, for one, everyone loves delicately cooked eggs. Many new options on the menu in Gurugram restaurants have travelled from the west, and more people are excited to see what the taste is all about. In the case of eggs benedict, you get a golden brown toasted English muffin layered with poached egg and hollandaise sauce which can taste either tangy, buttery or sweet. Many chefs in the city are reinventing eggs benedict and the spotlight has shone on the new choices.

1. Cafe Delhi Heights

At cafe Delhi Heights in Cross Point Mall, you’ll be able to try a dish called ‘eggs benedict our way’. The good thing about their version of eggs benedict is that the eggs are served on a croissant. I wonder if it meant that croissants over English muffins work better for the Indian palate. It felt like they were making a statement. The hollandaise sauce clung to the eggs and for layering, they’d even put some mushrooms in between the egg along with melted cheese. I’d have expected a more gooey and runny hollandaise, but to my surprise, they had even served what seemed to be a mustard honey dip with my order. So, this truly was a “reinvention” in every sense.
2. Di Ghent
Di Ghent is the place to go when you want something egg-centric. Take your pick from that one whole page titled “eggs-otic” dedicated to egg preparations catering to different tastes in three styles: benedict, scrambled and omelette. I really appreciate that they’ve got so many ways to jazz up eggs. You’ll find toppings for the English muffin like spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and olives, smoked salmon and so on. Then, there are breakfast sides to go with the eggs too. I highly recommend eggs benedict because that hollandaise is to die for! Also, the creamed mushroom eggs benedict is so elegantly done. You need to get your plate of eggs benedict at Di Ghent!
3. Madison & Pike
I hate Madison & Pike, said no one ever. What’s different about the eggs benedict here is that it comes on a waffle. On trying the hollandaise sauce, I also found it to be sweeter in flavour. I loved it. They say that the kitchen team puts bell pepper and saffron in the sauce. The serving size might be bewilderingly small. But the experience is satiating.
