Fruit is one of the age-old secrets to delicious alcohol. After all, wine, cider, grappa, and limoncello, all of them start with simple unassuming fruits. But if you’re not a master at fermentation but want to try your hand at some simple fruity alcohol, these Homemade Strawberry Liqueurs will be your new favourite.
Made with a mix of fresh strawberries and vodka the base alcohol can then be turned into a simple sweet liqueur or you can go the more summery route and make a cream liqueur, perfect for after-dinner drinks.
Making your own strawberry liqueur at home is an easy and cost-effective way to enjoy the taste of fresh strawberries year-round. The process is simple and requires just a few ingredients, including fresh strawberries, sugar, and high-proof alcohol such as vodka or brandy. To make the liqueur, simply muddle the strawberries, add the sugar, and let the mixture sit for a few days to allow the flavours to meld. Then, add the alcohol and let the mixture sit for another few weeks to allow the flavours to fully develop.
One of the benefits of making your own strawberry liqueur is that you have complete control over the flavour and sweetness. If you prefer a sweeter liqueur, simply add more sugar. If you prefer a stronger alcohol flavour, use a higher-proof alcohol. The possibilities are endless, and you can create a liqueur that is perfectly tailored to your taste preferences.
Once you've made your own strawberry liqueur, you can use it in a variety of ways. Enjoy it straight up as a digestif after a meal, mix it into cocktails such as a strawberry margarita, or drizzle it over ice cream or other desserts. The possibilities are truly endless, and the results are always delicious.
