Every year 5 February observes World Nutella Day. It was started in 2007 by American blogger Sara Rosso. It has turned into a popular global event. Let's explore more about Nutella!

Nutella gets its name by combining the English word nut, referring to the presence of hazelnut with Ella, a postfix of positivity.

Pietro Ferrero, a bakery owner in Alba, is said to create the initial form as a solid block called Pasta Gianduja. It was to meet the scarcity of chocolate during World War II.

Later in the early '50s, Ferrero introduced Supercrema Gianduja, a creamy variation of the original chunk form. It was further improvised by his son Michele Ferrero

SuperCrema was the original name of Nutella. Fine-tuning the recipe resulted in the inaugural jar of hazelnut and cocoa cream. Officially, Nutella was born.

In 1964, the very-first Nutella jar was made at the Alba facility. It took a couple of years to reach the French market. In 1978, the brand opened its first factory in Australia, stepping out of Europe.

The official site mentions 7 ingredients to make Nutella and says they are uniform worldwide. The list includes sugar, palm oil, hazelnuts, milk, cocoa, lecithin and vanillin.
