Omelettes are a versatile and quick dish, perfect for any meal. Their light, fluffy texture depends on the right balance of ingredients and techniques. Achieving softness involves incorporating air and moisture, cooking gently, and handling carefully, ensuring a tender and delicious result.

Use Fresh Eggs

Fresh eggs give better texture and flavour to your omelette.

Whisk Thoroughly

Beat the eggs well to incorporate air, which will make the omelette fluffier.

Add Milk Or Water

A small amount of water (1-2 teaspoons per egg) or milk helps create steam as the eggs cook, leading to a softer omelette.

Cook On Low Heat

Use a low to medium-low heat to cook the omelette slowly. This prevents overcooking and helps keep the texture soft.

Use Butter

Melt butter in the pan before adding the eggs. Butter helps the omelette cook evenly and adds richness.

Cover The Pan

After pouring the egg mixture into the pan, cover it with a lid for a minute or two. This traps heat and allows the top of the omelette to cook without flipping.

Remove From Heat Early

Take the omelette off the heat while it's still a bit undercooked, as it will continue to cook with the residual heat. This keeps it from becoming dry.
