Sattu is a traditional Indian delicacy that is not only just a food item but a powerhouse of nutrition and taste. Hailing from the Indian subcontinent, sattu is popular in states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. Sattu is made from roasted gram flour and is incredibly versatile and is used in various dishes for savoury snacks to refreshing beverages.
2 cups of Bengal gram or Chickpeas Water for soaking Salt to taste
Rinse 2 cups of chickpeas thoroughly and soak them in water overnight or for at least 6-8 hours.
Drain the soaked chickpeas and spread them on a clean cloth or paper towel to dry for about an hour.
For 15-20 minutes, dry roast the chickpeas in a pan on the stovetop oven over medium heat.
Let the roasted chickpeas cool down to room temperature and transfer them to a grinder and grind them into a fine powder.
Once grounded, add salt to taste and mix well. Your homemade sattu is ready.
