As the weather is giving signals for the arrival of winter, you should take out your recipe book and note some comforting dishes. This step-by-step guide will teach you to make moong dal khichdi.
1 chopped green chilli 1-2 tbsp ghee ¼ cup onions, tomatoes 1 tsp cumin ½ cup rice, moong dal 4 cups water A pinch of asafoetida 1 chopped carrot, potato ¼ tsp turmeric, red chilli powder 1 tsp chopped ginger 7-8 French beans
Rinse and soak rice and moong dal. Keep them aside for 15-20 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds, ginger, turmeric, and green chillies.
Add chopped potatoes and onions. Saute until onions are pink and translucent.
Add French beans and carrots. Sprinkle red chilli powder and hing. Once carrots are soft, add tomatoes.
Fold in soaked rice and lentils into the cooker. Add water and put on the lid after sprinkling salt to taste.
After two or three whistles, turn off the flame. Enjoy a plate of hot moong dal khichdi.
