Which Herbs And Spices Go Best With Your Booze?

By Jasmine Kaur

Just like food, you can season your drinks with herbs and spices too and enjoy some zingy cocktails. From basil to black pepper, dunk these in your concoctions.

Tarragon

It is believed that tarragon has a liquorice undertone that makes it a perfect pairing for gin and rum-based drinks. Let it settle in the glass before you take a sip.

Black Pepper

As surprising as it may sound, black pepper can really ooze the flavour of your favourite wine. It is said that it best works with mulled wine.

Basil

A mild and sweet herb that is the star ingredient of sauces like pesto, basil can really amp up the taste of drinks like gin and several other light spirits.

Cilantro

Another greenish herb but with a stronger aroma and flavour, cilantro is the perfect companion for white rum.

Cardamom

The Indian pod-like spice is known for its acidic nature and earthy flavour which works best with bourbon. Add it to spiked chai or dunk it in a bourbon cocktail.
